Do Wow Game Time Cards Have to Be Activated

A question about pre-paid game cards for World of Warcraft

Greetings.
I got a doubt about how pre-paid game cards work. I've sent an e-mail to Blizzard support, but I don't really expect them to answer anytime soon lol.

The doubt is the following, and I will now quote myself from the e-mail I've sent:

Can I be 100% sure that the code won't ever go invalid because I bought it and haven't used it for a month and a bit? What I have in mind is that it could happen that I'd buy the game card, and since the system wouldn't detect the code used on that card for at least a month or more (since I'll use it only on January, and we're currently ending November), your code generator could potentially generate an equal code, thus making my card code invalid once someone would buy the game card with the same code, and use it.

Does anyone here have any idea about how it works? Anyone who has bought a pre-paid game card before, and kept it for a month or more, and then activated it after such a time distance?

*Most* cards using the same system as the WoW time cards are valid for one year after activation. Some last longer, but anything with a shorter lifespan will tell you on the back of the card.

Why not just use it right now? The card will just add months to your account. For example, I'm subbed until July, but if I bought a 30 day card right now and added it, I'd now be subbed until August.
Either way though, the card should have an expiration date if it does, indeed, expire. I highly doubt that the system used to generate these cards is so haphazard that it would just randomly generate a code that it already has recently made, especially considering how humongous those codes are.

Yes it stacks. I built out like 2yrs at one point with gifted game cards.

i dont think they do but im sure if you check the back of the card it will say so. you can always send in a ticket or call blizzard if you want to be sure

I can definitely confirm they stack, as I've had about 2 weeks left on my time, added 3x 60 cards, and had ~200 days remaining after that.

Well that is great news and definitely solves my problem. I'm just going to buy the game card and activate it now and stack over my current active subscription Thank you for the info

hi, ive been paying my 2 years of wow solely by gamecards, yes they stack. only thing cheeper would be 6months sub i think, but this way i pay 10€ /month

Yeah can also confirm they stack - on the other hand I also once had a GCard that I didnt use for more then a year and still used it after that.

I can tell you that this IS NOT the case... if you wait to use the card you WILL get screwed.
I got some discounted game time cards (due to expiring soon) - added them to my account BEFORE they expired.
The cards were working just fine - my paid subscription expired and the game time card was allowing me to play.

Then, the game time card expired mid card - and bliz removed it from my account - the code now says it is expired.
the really annoying thing is that bliz didn't even give me any notification...
